What you should have in your backpack

MUST HAVES

At least 4 sharp pencils
[ I am not taking work in pen. Period. You will make mistakes and need to erase at times]

A scientific calculator: One that does square roots and sin/cos/tan
[Scientific calculators cost $8-16 and can be bought at office stores and drug stores like CVS]

A 3-hole binder to organize all of your papers.

Lots and lots of lined paper

A graph paper notebook or pad of graph paper
[Graph paper can usually be found at Staples or Office Depot]

A ruler, protractor or other straightedge

Good to Have
A graphing calculator. They're expensive, but if you have a computer at home, you can download or use online graphing calculators. I recommend graphmatica, downloadable from

http://ksoft.com/

A compass for making arcs and circles and other construction

A set of colored pencils

Highlighters
